LRSM - Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music in Piano Teaching. (2005)
ATCL - Associate of Trinity College London in Piano Performance. (2013)
Certificate in Music Studies - This consisted of Music History and Analysis, Composition, World Music, Jazz, Keyboard Musicianship and Improvisation. As well as achieving this qualification my work in Keyboard Musicianship and Improvisation was recognised by the examiners as being of exceptional quality and representing a highly commendable achievement, 2003.
Kodály Certificate in Musicianship - (Level 1, with Distinction) as well as many short courses, a Summer School and Singing Lessons. I won 3rd prize in The Richmond upon Thames Performing Arts Festival, 2005.
The philosophy behind the Kodaly approach is Singing, how can we hope to make an instrument of wood, felt and steel make music and sing if we don't first feel and experience the music in ourselves. Singing plays a large part in my teaching. I have been able to help many students reacquaint themselves with their singing voice. Most of them having not sung for years because they were led, wrongly, to believe they could not sing.
"Everyone who learns an instrument should sing first. Singing, independent of an instrument, is the real and profound schooling of musical abilities." Zoltán Kodály
Professional Development - Some courses I have taken to continue my Professional Development and to extend my knowledge in areas of personal interest include, a Dalcroze summer school, we experienced musical concepts through our bodies and I gained insight into this method and took away some useful teaching ideas. A day course with Penelope Roskell on Teaching Technique and Yoga for Musicians. A day retreat with GéNIA, this included preparing students for performances, and piano-yoga, ABRSM conferences for teachers, a Liszt symposium, and lessons in The Alexander Technique which teaches one how to use the body in an optimal way with ease and freedom. Teaching children with dyslexia, EPTA Piano Teachers Workshop, and a Pianists Summer School.
"Thank you for inspiring me!" ND
"You were a complete inspiration to me, and I loved my piano lessons. Thank you so much for the amazing work we did in theory in which I passed with 77, I never thought that I could."VV

I decided to add a few more recent testimonials, I was so touched to receive this very personal feedback over the 2015 summer holidays from current students. There are two more topic specific testimonials on my 'What I Offer' tab.
"As a parent, I have found Roberta to be an engaging as well as inspirational teacher. Her lessons are well structured and tailored to suit the individual. Her communication with the student in terms of expectations and discussing short / long term goals help to ensure that progress is consistent. Regular end of term performance concerts help to build confidence in a relaxed informal environment. Under Roberta’s tutoring, my daughter has come a long way in terms of technique, understanding the finer nuances of different composers and appreciation of piano playing as a whole. Roberta is a warm and caring person who gives her best as a teacher. " Fiona D'Silva (2015)
"5 stars out of 5 stars. Roberta's lessons are always really engaging and I love every minute of them! Roberta is able to push me to get the best out of me, which I really like. I have high ambitions for the future and Roberta is able to adapt her teaching style to fit my needs. I would certainly recommend Roberta to anyone who wishes to learn the piano ;-)" Shayna D'Silva
"Roberta was recommended to us by a very accomplished piano teacher. We feel very blessed to have found such a wonderful teacher who is also a coach, motivator and friend. Our girls benefit not only from Roberta's technical knowledge, patience and obvious love of music but also from the broader musical community that she's part of. Not to mention they get to play on her beautiful Steinway each week!" Tracy Mair
